The Assyrian~Chaldean Dilemma - One Nation, Two Names, Part I by Ghassan Hanna Posted: Friday, June 09, 2000 06:31 pm CST "In treating Assyria, it is extremely difficult not to speak at the same time of its sister, or rather mother country, Babylonia, as the people of these two countries, the Semitic Babylonians and Assyrians, are both ethnographically and linguistically the same race, with identical religion, language, literature, and civilization. " The Catholic Encyclopedia Any observer of the current affairs of the Chaldean/Assyrian nation in its two religious branches (Chaldean-Catholic and Church of the East-Orthodox) has but to wonder behind the reasons of the "self-identity" ignorance that engulf a large portion of the population of this great and ancient nation.

Save the Chaldean, Assyrian, Syriac, Christians of Iraq Petition Created by Abbey Mikha on 6 August 2006 @ 9:45:50 PM Many Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac Christian children have been killed in Baghdad since the liberation or for some the invasion of Iraq. Raneed Raad 16 and her sister Raphid 6 were slaughtered in their home by Muslim extremists. The family of these two children were threatened and while their parents were out Muslim extremists entered thier home and shot the two Children. The Christians of Iraq are doing the best they can to let the world know that they are being intimidated, threatened and killed simply because they are Christians. The world must not stand by and watch. The last time the world stood by and watched the Christians of the Middle East die was during the Genocide of the Sword of 1915 where 2/3rds of our population was killed in Iraq, Turkey and all over the Middle East. If our Holocaust was recognized maybe the unfortunate later Holocaust in Europe of the Hebrew people would have never occurred. Human Rights are for all people regardless of skin color, race, gender, or religion. The Chaldean, Assyrian, Syriac people are the Indegenous poeple of Iraq, and they speak the Aramaic language that was spoken by Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ. They need your help more than ever now because of all the current events in the world.

I, no more than yourself, have seen the Chaldean masonry works constructed according to the sacred form of the Sikra, nor the temple of Solomon, which is destroyed, nor the stone doors of the sepulchre of the kings of Israel, which are broken. Notre-Dame de Paris by Hugo, Victor View in context What was said in this disappointing anti-climax, by the disciples of the Good Republican Brutus of Antiquity, except that it was something very voluble and loud, would have been as so much Hebrew or Chaldean to Miss Pross and her protector, though they had been all ears.

The Assyrian~Chaldean Dilemma: One Nation, Two Names, Part II by Ghassan Hanna Posted: Friday, June 09, 2000 06:28 pm CST Published in Al Muntada Magazine • July-August Issue "Chaldeans: The name of former Nestorians now reunited with the Roman Church …Strictly, the name Chaldean is no longer correct; in Chaldea proper, apart from Baghdad, there are now very few adherents of this rite, most of the Chaldean population being found in the cities of Mosul, Arbil, and Kirkuk, in the heart of the Tigris valley, in the valley of the Zab, in the mountains of Kurdistan. It is in the former ecclesiastical province Ator (Assyria) that are found the most flourishing of the Catholic Chaldean communities…" Catholic Encyclopedia In part I of this article, I presented historical records as to the origin of the religious name "Chaldean", a name given by the Catholic Church to its followers in Beth Nahrain as well as those in Malabar, West India.
